What special precautions are there?

  • No hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in dogs with a patent heartworm infection when administered 3 times the recommended dose of selamectin. No higher doses were studied.
  • Do not use in sick, debilitated, or underweight pets.
  • This product does not kill the adult stage of D. immitis.
  • This product is flammable and should be kept away from sparks, ignition sources, heat, and open flame.
  • If you have had a previous hypersensitivity reaction to this product, use with caution or consult a physician for advice before handling.
  • In case of eye contact, use large amounts of water to flush the eyes.
  • Although circulating microfilariae could decrease after use, this product is not formulated for clearance against microfilariae.
  • Do not use in humans.
  • Ensure that dogs receive a heartworm test prior to use. Dogs with an existing infection should receive treatment before starting this medication.
  • This product can irritate the eyes or skin of humans. Thoroughly wash your hands after handling.
  • Keep out of reach of animals and children.
  • Human reactions have included skin redness, itching, and hives.
  • Do not use on dogs under 6 weeks old.
What to do if overdose?
If your dog is overdosed, pursue emergency veterinary treatment.
How can I store Senergy (selamectin) Topical for Dogs?
This product should be stored in a cool location (under 77° F or 25° C).
Overview
Administration Directions:
  1. Take tube out of package.
  2. Hold the tube upright. When held correctly, the expiration date and lot number should be visible (which are printed on the bottom of the applicator tube).
  3. Snap the tip of the applicator off by bending it backward.
  4. Part your dog's hair along his or her back. Application should occur in front of the shoulder blades at the base of the dog's neck, and the dog's skin should be clearly visible.
  5. Place the applicator tip against the dog's skin. Squeeze the tube 3 to 4 times until the contents are completely dispensed in a one location.
  6. Keeping the tube squeezed, drag the applicator away and lift to remove the applicator from the dog's skin.
  7. Look at the applicator to verify thorough dispensing.




Take care during application:

  • Not to massage into the skin
  • To avoid contact with your own skin
  • To dispose of the empty tube properly (in your regular household garbage)
  • Not to apply to broken skin (because of the alcohol content of the product)
  • To wait 24 hours to shampoo or bathe the pet
  • Not to apply to a wet coat



Hair clumping, discoloration, or stiffness could occur at the site of application, as could a powdery residue. Rest assured that these effects are short-term and normal, and they should not be alarming.


Follow your vet's dosage and administration directions closely. Recommended dosages are:

  • Mauve: Up to 5 Pounds (15 mg selamectin per 0.25 mL tube)
  • Lavender: 5.1 to 10 Pounds: (30 mg selamectin per 0.25 mL tube)
  • Brown: 10.1 to 20 Pounds: (60 mg selamectin per 0.5 mL tube)
  • Red 20.1 to 40 Pounds: (120 mg selamectin per 1 mL tube)
  • Teal 40.1 to 85 Pounds: (240 mg selamectin per 2 mL tube)
  • Plum 85.1 to 130 Pounds: (360 mg selamectin per 3 mL tube)
