Cerenia (maropitant citrate) is the first and only FDA-approved veterinary medication to safely and effectively treat vomiting in dogs and cats and prevent vomiting due to motion sickness in dogs. It is intended for use in dogs 8 weeks of age or older. Cerenia requires a prescription from your veterinarian.

What are the side effects of Cerenia Tablets?
In rare cases, drooling, lethargy, drowsiness, lack of appetite and diarrhea have been reported. Consult your veterinarian if you notice any of the above side effects.
What special precautions are there?
Cerenia is not recommended for dogs less than 16 weeks of age. It is not for use in animals hypersensitive (allergic) to maropitant citrate. Use with caution in dogs with liver problems.
What to do if overdose?
In case of overdose, contact your nearest emergency animal hospital.
How can I store Cerenia Tablets?
Cerenia Tablets should be stored at controlled room temperature 20°-25°C (68°-77°F) with excursions between 15°-30°C (59°-86°F).
Helpful Tips:
Do not wrap the tablets tightly in fatty food such as cheese or meat, since this may keep the tablets from dissolving and delay the effect of Cerenia.
Overview
Cerenia is given orally and is recommended for use in dogs 16 weeks of age and older. For motion sickness, this medication can be given once a day for up to two days in a row. Dogs should not be fed 1 hour prior to giving Cerenia. Give Cerenia 2 hours prior to travel.

Administer Cerenia orally at a minimum dose of 2 mg/kg (0.9 mg/lb) body weight once daily for up to 5 consecutive days.
